Creating a Daily Practice

Some suggest that it takes 21 days for a habit to form, while others recommend that it's more like 66 days. Some argue that it takes longer.

Regardless of the exact number of days, I would argue that if something becomes a daily practice, then it's more likely to stick.

Especially when the benefits are profound.

One of the utmost important aspects of any individualized plan is supporting clients to create a daily ritual and sacred space to implement the many yogic skills.

We can’t pour from an empty cup

Self-care is an ever-present concept.

Take care of yourself first; then support others.

We’ve also heard of the MANY ways to reduce stress, as well as the benefits of self-care. Maybe you’ve tried different practices and some stuck, while others faded.

So why isn’t self-care a regular practice for most of us?

Time seems to be a culprit

I know it’s important, but I just don’t have the time

We live in a world that operates at a fast pace and the idea of carving out 20-minutes a day (or more) for ourselves isn’t always a priority, no matter how critical we know self-care can be.

Through my own practice, and through providing a framework for how Yoga can meet the self-care needs of clients, I've become aware of how sensitive Yoga for Mood Management is to the needs of every client.

Many of the yogic tools can be conducted in as little as 5 minutes and provide the foundation for each client to develop a self-care regimen that extends beyond a one-chunk timeframe and encourages ongoing self-care throughout the day.

How are individual  plans different from a yoga class?
  • Individual plans are provided one-on-one; not in a larger class environment.

  • Individual plans are specific to the individual’s needs and the yoga practices target these specific areas.

  • In a yoga class, generally the focus is on breath work and postures versus a broader step-by-step integrative approach that teaches you how to move the energy in your body.

  • Because individual plans integrate different yoga practices, it is easy to transfer these tools into real life situations.

  • Written hand-outs are provided to take home.

  • Individual plans allow for talking and on-the-spot questions during session(s).

  • Individual plans provide after-hour access to me as their Yoga Practitioner.
